The current Apache OpenOffice supports Apple MacOS X version 10.7 (Lion) - 10.11 (El Capitan) and macOS 10.12 (Sierra) - 10.13 (High Sierra).
If you rename or modify any of the files in the Microsoft Office 2011 folder, you cannot install product updates. To correct this issue, drag the Microsoft Office 2011 folder to the Trash, and then reinstall Office 2011 from your original installation disk. Tip: I had to upgrade my OS X because you can't install Office for Mac with any version of OS X below 10.10. To see my tutorial on how to upgrade your OS X go here. I also had some internet interruptions on my initial download to my downloads folder and had a hard time opening the package because it did not download the full 2.6GB. For instructions, see Use the Office offline installer. Office 365 Home and Personal Subscriptions. If you have an Office 365 Home or Personal subscription, log into the Services & subscriptions page. Click Install, then Other Options. Tick the box to Download an offline installer. For instructions, see Use the Office home offline installer. When the download is complete, double click on the file Microsoft Office 2016 Installer.pkg. Continue to click through the installation windows and agreements until you reach a window requesting you to install. Click on Install. Enter in your Mac password, and click on Install Software. After the application notes its completion, click on Close. I am unable to successful install office 365 on my mac. My mac runs OS Sierra 10.12.6. (I have installed it successfully on my other mac running Mojave) After being prompted to enter my Microsoft username, it never progresses to asking me for the passward.
